Beijing Research Institute of Hydropower and Geophysical Surveying is a specialized research and technology institution with long-term expertise in seismic wave exploration. The Institute integrates method research, equipment development, software programming and technical standard formulation, and has contributed to the development of multiple engineering geophysical technologies in China.
The Institute has developed several geophysical survey and testing technologies and systems, including multichannel transient surface wave survey technology, waterborne moving vessel seismic survey technology, TGP seismic wave advanced prediction technology, high-density seismic wave imaging technology, intelligent microtremor survey technology and microtremor “B-Scan” technology.
Its independently developed equipment includes the GS Geological “B-Scan” System, WD Intelligent Microtremor Survey System, TGP Tunnel Geological Prediction System and SWS Engineering Survey and Testing System. These systems are used in tunnel construction safety, urban underground hazard detection, geological structure investigation, resource exploration, geotechnical investigation and foundation reinforcement evaluation.
The Institute spearheaded the compilation of China’s first industry standard for surface wave technology, the “Technical Specification for Multichannel Transient Surface Wave Survey” (JGJ/T 143-2017), and the first group standard for microtremor survey technology, the “Technical Specification for Microtremor Survey” (T/CSPSTC 75-2021). Its TGP Tunnel Geological Prediction System has been widely used in highway, railway and water conservancy/hydropower tunnel construction, supporting the prediction of adverse geological conditions ahead of tunnel faces.
